PHASES

PHYSICAL INVENTORY AND MODULE RECONCILIATION

Load all source, Jobstreams and tables into a BCS predefined database structure
Inventory modules by language, type and lines of code and cross check as follows to assure that module source code is available:

Program modules, Load modules and Jobstream Executes or Calls to Source Master

All input, output specs and screens to Source Master

Program "Copy" and "Call" to Source Master

Source Master to Program modules, Load modules and Jobstream Executes or Calls

Source Master to Input, output specs and screens

Source Master to Program "Copy" and "Call"

Produce analysis reports to kernelize the Jobstreams into systems sharing files

Create database structure to cross reference all files and database structures to source modules and Jobstreams

FILE AUDIT TRAIL PHASE

Update cross reference files with predefined master date fields
Trace master dates through all Jobstreams, source modules, files and database structures locating all fields necessary for expansion
Trace system and/or external dates through all Jobstreams, source modules, files and database structures locating all fields necessary for expansion

DECISION PHASE

Produce Impacted Analysis Reports to detail the results of the traces in order to define the magnitude of the modification process, the areas of the modification that can be automated, the areas that can be replaced with "canned" logic and the areas requiring manual intervention
Develop a "PLAN OF ACTION" to proceed with the modifications on a "kernel-by-kernel" basis

SOURCE CODE MODIFICATION PHASE

Isolate, re-edit and freeze the kernel to be modified
Develop "snapshot" files and reports detailing at the dataname level all areas within the program that must be modified
